New Moon in Libra: Setting an Intention With Smoky Quartz

About this New Moon

Tonight’s New Moon in Libra is calling for balance…at this time both the Sun and Moon are in Libra, and to achieve this balance, there may be a need to find some grounding, as Libra is an air sign. For me, one of the best ways to find grounding is through use of crystals and gemstones. On a recent trip to Asheville, North Carolina with my husband for an anniversary trip, I was really drawn to a Smoky Quartz tower (originally from Madagascar) in an amazing shop I stumbled upon there. I didn’t buy the tower on my first visit, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I went back and purchased it the next day. With a little more inquiry into the properties of this stone, it’s now no surprise to me why I was so intuitively drawn to it. New Moons are the perfect time to set an intention, and Smoky Quartz is also a perfect crystal for doing just that! So I’ve decided to share a special New Moon blog piece about this amazing stone…read on to learn more!

About Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz is a powerful grounding and balancing stone; with the New Moon in Libra calling for balance, but also requiring some grounding, enter Smoky Quartz…

This crystal is a super-charged variation of the extensive Quartz group of crystals. The hints of brown come from its exposure to natural, underground radiation from granite deposits. This stone has the ability to link us to the highest realms of being and amplifies the truth of everything around it, aiding us to open up more and receive more light and positivity. Also, due to its radiation exposure, it is one the most powerful stones for both clearing and purifying the environment of electromagnetic stress, which is definitely a very common problem for many of us! It is able to recognize electromagnetic as well as geopathic stress and then return it to the Earth, which also makes this a great crystal to keep in areas where electronics are used-possibly a workspace or entertainment room, as it is able to absorb and then transmute electromagnetic radiation. As a cleanser and detoxifier, it is also wonderful to pair with Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese philosophy used to bring balance and harmony into a home.

This crystal may also be used to amplify the energy of all stones surrounding it and it is often used in healing layouts due to its amazing cleansing and detoxifying effects. It is also effective with helping to release negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, and fear, as well as with facilitating us to move on from painful past memories. Using it during meditation guides us to a higher state of being, bringing us to to a place where we can let go of the past. It’s also excellent for easing pain, both emotional and physical and may be placed on any areas of the body where tension is felt, aiding its release.

Smoky Quartz is associated with the crown chakra, connecting us to both Heaven above and the Earth below. The subtle shades of brown give it healing properties that work to reconnect us with the Earth and its life-giving soil, which make it amazing at assisting to both ground and balance us.

Intention Setting

To receive optimal benefits from this powerful stone, it should be “programmed” with a specific intention. This morning, I set my beautiful Smoky Quartz tower outside on the railing of my back deck, on top of the morning dew, as the Sun was rising (photo included above), to give it an extra charge. I then brought it inside and burned some Palo Santo around it for a few moments to assist in clearing the energy in the room. I then wrote out my intention for this New Moon and placed the Smoky Quartz tower over the piece of paper and touched the stone with my fingertips as I took some deep breaths and verbalized that I wished for this crystal to be infused with my intention. It felt very powerful to me and I immediately felt more grounded and centered.

I wish all of you many New Moon blessings and hope that you will find a way to set an intention that is meaningful to you!
