November 2018 Full Moon: Moon in Gemini, Sun in Sagittarius

Friday’s Full Moon on November 23, 2018 has a personal significance for me, as at this point the Sun will have entered Sagittarius (the day prior, on Thanksgiving) and the Moon will be in Gemini. My natal chart presents with the Sun in Sagitarrius and the Moon in Gemini, so I especially wanted to write a post about this Full Moon and its significance, since I am able to offer some first-hand experience. This Full Moon also arrives the day after Thanksgiving, a time of year we are likely to be spending extra time with family and friends. Read on to learn more about the energies surrounding this Full Moon and ways to put these energies to work for you!

A Little About Gemini…

Gemini is the social butterfly of the zodiac, and with the Moon in Gemini, the energy surrounding this Full Moon will likely feel like that of fun, spontaneity, light-heartedness, open-mindedness, and expansion. You may feel like being around others and just having a good time, with an openness to meeting new people or trying something new.

And Sun in Sag…

The energy here has a lot of similarity to that of Gemini – Sagittarius is friendly, cheerful, curious, freedom-loving, expansive, and almost always on the go (trust me on that one!). With so much in common between Gemini and Sagittarius, and with the energies being heightened by the Full Moon, the energy here may feel really intense – but hopefully in a good way!

What to Keep in Mind

So now that we understand more about Gemini and Sagittarius and know that the Full Moon will really enhance their qualities, we will be able to decide how to best work with the energy that presents on Friday. This is definitely a good day to go wherever your heart is calling, being open to whatever they day may bring. I would recommended not making any really set-in-stone plans, and going with whatever feels best in the moment. It’s truly a good day to spend time with family and friends, as the energy will be leaning that way, and it’s also a good day to get out and try something new and/or meet new people, especially if that is speaking to you! However, it is important to keep in mind here that with such feelings of openness and expansion, it may be easy to lose your center, so while it’s good to stay open and fluid (and it’s very likely you will feel this way), don’t forget to work in something during your day that will help you feel grounded – this will be really beneficial due to the mixture of all of the air and fire energy from Gemini and Sag. I recommend beginning your day with meditation or yoga, or a combination of the two, to foster a better sense of center and grounding energy. If neither of those are your thing, then consider journaling first thing in the morning, allowing the words to flow without thinking too much, or you could go for a walk in nature, take a relaxing bath, or enjoy a delicious breakfast. Again, it’s probably best not to plan what you will do to aid in grounding yourself – see how you feel when you wake up in the morning, and then begin your day with whatever you are feeling drawn to, just make sure it is something grounding and centering. Doing so will help you make the most of this day and work with the energies at hand without getting completely swept away by them…this also brings in some much-needed balance since, as I explain above, the energies of both Sagittarius and Gemini are so closely aligned.

On the Emotional Side

And while it’s important to remain positive and optimistic, I also want you to be mindful that with so much intense energy occurring on the Full Moon (a time when a lot may rise to the surface with a capacity for intense emotions anyway) that carries with it so much similarity with these two opposing signs, it may be really easy to get carried away, and possibly not for the better if you do not maintain a centered awareness. Both Gemini and Sag are known for being quick-witted and good with words (especially in a verbal sense & Sag has the capacity to be very blunt and honest). Along with the likelihood that you will be spending time with family and friends and may be out and about and on the go, there is potential for stress to be generated from these situations, especially if something unexpected happens that you initially do not like or if someone says something that triggers you (also very likely if you are around family and friends), so be mindful to think before you speak if you find yourself in such a situation, otherwise you may quickly say something during the intensity of the moment that you may later regret. This is why I especially recommend doing something early in the day to create a more grounded, centered, and balanced energy within yourself.

Full Moon Rituals

Something I really like to do and make an effort to do every Full Moon is charge/cleanse my crystals. I gather them all up and put them outside on a table where they are able to bathe in the moonlight. Sometimes I will do this even a day or two leading up to the Full Moon and have them out there 2-3 nights, then I gather them all up and bring them back inside.

I also thought I might mention which tarot cards are associated with Gemini and Sagittarius…the tarot card associated with Gemini is “The Lovers” and the card associated Sagittarius is “Temperance”.

I just wanted to add this info in if crystals or tarot are things you may have interest in or may be new to working with…working with crystals and tarot cards are are excellent ways to find a sense of grounding and connection.

And there you have it! My hope is that you will work with the intensity of this energy to do something you may not otherwise do or find a greater sense of enjoyment and openness in each moment, but only if you are able to do so from a centered and loving place. Remember to breathe and reconnect with yourself as often as you need to, and allow the beautiful energy of this Full Moon to illuminate more completely the sides of you that are fun-loving, open, and free!

Wishing all of you abundant Full Moon blessings!

With Love,
